The New England Chamber Choir (NECC) is a unique group of gifted amateur musicians that performs only the best choral music from Gregorian chant to classically inspired music written today. Richard Wm. Donohue, conductor, pianist, organist, composer, and teacher, brings more than 60 years of conducting experience to the podium of the New England Chamber Choir. This combined composition creates an atmosphere of musicianship, respect and passion, all of which are evident in the choir’s performances.
NECC began as a church choir dedicated to the classical tradition. When artistic differences arose with the church, the musicians decided that the great music of the past is too important to them, and the New England Chamber Choir was born as an independent choir dedicated to performing classical music for the sake of the music itself. Due to the commitment of its members and the dedication of its conductor, the New England Chamber Choir has flourished for nearly three decades.
NECC’s season consists of several concerts: Music for Christmas in December, Music for Lent & Easter in March, and a Spring Concert in May, The Christmas and Lent & Easter concerts are performed with chamber ensembles, while the Spring Concert includes a full orchestra. In addition to full-choir performances, ensembles from the choir present smaller concerts including a chamber concert in September, Messiah on the first Sunday of Advent, and a Christmas Carol Sing in December.
Concerts are hosted by various venues, mostly churches, throughout Connecticut. Please browse through our website to learn more about the Choir and its upcoming performances.
